Flowing with Life is Knowing How to Surrender

Relationships come in many forms. We have a relationship with our family, friends, our jobs, computers, and even our cars. All of these can challenge us on a daily basis. Each time one of these relationships changes or dissolves, we are forced to move into a place of trust, to open to Spirit, and surrender to the unknown.

What has change looked like for you lately? Are you seeking the perfect job where you can be creative, your abilities seen and honored, and the pay supports your lifestyle? Are you defining what the perfect relationship should look like with a parent or an intimate partner? The problem is that everything is changing and there are no constants. So what we see as perfect today will not fulfill our needs tomorrow.

In Buddhist tradition we are told it is the journey, not the destination that will bring peace. So how do we walk along our path in peace? Try surrendering into the unknown.

Surrender can happen by taking a moment to see a new perspective because everything is always in divine order. Each experience gives us an opportunity to grow in compassion, understanding, and power. Transition allows you to transcend the ordinary and move into a higher level of consciousness. As you raise the pole of your vibration, others in your circle of family and friends have the opportunity to move with you. Many are unconscious as they do this, yet you, who are mindful, can see the change and understand the blessing. This creates an opportunity to continually trust the unknown, release the past which no longer serves you, and move into a new level. As you do this for yourself, you do it for others. This is the unseen gift of change. You stand as an example and just the energy of your movement will transform those around you.

Walking the path of surrender can seem lonely, but it empowers through silence. The quiet of your mind is in the strength to follow the guidance of your heart. This is information only you can access, and surrendering to this guidance is where your power lies.

It's Spring - Plant Some Seeds of Change!

How do you spend your time? Are you someone who plans each moment without leaving time for rest while telling yourself youre so busy, there just isn't enough time in the day? Or are you the kind of person who idles away your time thinking about what needs to be done without getting much accomplished? Both distract you from connecting with your true essence.

The fact is, there is plenty of time be productive and still have time to relax, meditate, and connect to the things that bring joy to your life. How long does it take to stop your racing mind and notice nature's beauty which is all around you?  It is there while you walk or drive. Turn off the radio. Put your cell phone away and breathe in the fresh air. This is spring! Listen to the birds. Theyre out there calling.

If you are the one who doesnt get much accomplished, try making a list. Place on this agenda only things you feel you can complete that day. Then prioritize the list. If you are really a procrastinator, making a list  may be all you complete that day. No problem. The next day you will be ready to delve into your tasks. Be sure to reward yourself for whatever you accomplished and be aware of the changes you have made which are different from your old patterns.

Spring is a time of new growth and fresh starts. Nature is here to support you for she is doing the same thing. Rider in Her wave.

Awakening to Spring

Now is the time to come out of the hibernation of winter and gracefully blossom. The cold temperatures of winter encourage us to curl up under blanket looking for warmth. All of the contemplation you have done during the cool days now will come together, and you will have a clearer perception on that which was once cloudy.

Spring allows us to extend out to feel the fresh growth. This expansion also comes from within. As you watch for buds on the trees and warmth in the air, be reminded that you too are awakening. Each year opportunity arises for you to expand your consciousness. When looking at growth, remember to look back not in days but in months and years.

Where were you spiritually, mentally, and emotionally two years ago? Five years ago? 10 years ago? Now don’t you feel better about where you are right now? Enjoy your day. Give yourself a pat on the back. You are doing magnificently!

Lighten Up!

While you were planning your foolish April Fool’s Day pranks on your co-workers, friends or family, I hope the day reminded you to also lighten up on yourself. On our journey to enlightenment, we can get bogged down by the details, deeper meanings, and eternal search for understanding which can lead to so much seriousness that we forget to enjoy ourselves in the process. It is the journey, not the destination which gives us joy. Take time to stop and feel the movement of your advancement. It is subtle but it is there. Don’t limit your view to your accomplishments for the last week. See the bigger picture as you recognize how far you’ve come over the last year. Where were you last spring? What issues were plaguing your mind? Aren’t they different today?

Often as we look back through the year, we see that those around us have changed. They may have become less confrontational, easier to get along with and kinder to us. If this is the case, know it is you who has changed, allowing them to be more in their divine essence. As we change, those around us also change. What we do for ourselves, we do for all.

So go out, have a good time, and don't be afraid to be foolish. Let April 1st teach you to play all year long!

Many Blessings,
