Perfection is Fleeting So Enjoy the Moment

The weekend I attended the World Synchronized Skating Championships in Colorado Springs, Colorado. What gifted skaters I was blessed to see strut their stuff. Sixteen skaters performing in unison some of the most difficult moves that you usually see in paired figure skating. My thoughts brought me to admire their pursuit for perfection and how our pursuit for perfection differs.

They are athletes and it is their job to be perfect, but that should not be your ultimate goal. Yours is to enjoy what you are doing in the moment, perfect or not. The skaters were rewarded for their continued practice over the last year as each team had their place in the limelight. They would do the best they could, and be in first place for a short time (USA being one of them). Then another more skilled team would take their place. For a time their team was high on the score board, and they were elated for a job well done. As the outcome changed I did not see animosity. I only witnessed their joy for the team that was more skilled. I saw most of the teams supporting the others. See them perform.

So enjoy the skills of those around you and do not think you need to be like them. You are an individual with your special attributes. Know what they are and reward yourself each and every day for them. I for one see those amazing qualities in you and marvel.

Remedy for Overexposure to the Sun

For those of you that have spent a lot of time out in the sun, I have a remedy that just may come in handy. When sunspots appear on your skin, using essential oils can easily alleviate them. Blend these three essential oils together and you will find that your sunspots will begin to fade almost overnight. I have noticed a difference within days.

Here is your magic potion:
  •    Helichrysum
  •    Frankincense
  •    Tea Tree
Any of these oils may be purchased at your local health food store, but make sure they are pure. Young Living Oils have been around for a long time and they are tried and true. If you would like to speak to someone who really knows the products, contact Lori Cohen at angellyte@live.com. Let me know how it works for you.

As I mentioned last week, you can now access my blog through my website, and after April 15, 2017, I will no longer be featuring blog posts here on blogspot.  Click here to register to receive notifications when new posts are available through my website.  Hope to stay connected with you!

Renew and Replenish This Spring

Spring is in the air and it looks like a Robin convention at my place. As I watch the flowers pop from the ground, I admire their beauty and think about what could be blooming inside of me. Is there a new me that is brighter that wants to be revealed? Sit in meditation and see what comes up for you. Spring is the perfect time to look around and see what has been neglected over the past winter months.

What part of you needs to peak its head out of the dirt and shine? There is no time like spring to begin new projects. It can be a project in your home, an intention you have been dreaming about accomplishing, or something you would like to do for someone else.

Let the vibrancy of spring support you. Each time you see a flower popping out of the earth, let it remind you of your intention for the upcoming month.

Enjoy the fresh air and know that there just may be one more snow storm in our midst.

After April 15, I will no longer be featuring blog posts here through blogspot. If you'd like to continue reading my posts, you'll need to do that through my website.  Click here to register to receive notifications when new blogs are posted.

How to Take Care of Your Heart

I often talk about how to take care of your emotional heart, but today I will address your physical heart. Research has found that inflammation in the body can increase your risk of heart disease. Amazingly enough, for the last 100 years heart disease has been and still is the leading cause of death. Therefore, I feel compelled to share this information with you.

Traditional risk factors for heart disease:
  • Smoking
  • Diabetes
  • Elevated blood pressure
  • Elevated cholesterol
Non-traditional risk factors for heart disease:
  • Stress - 6 months after surgery. risk is 20% greater
  • Being too thin
  • Over exercising -  Moderate exercise is better for your heart
  • Gingivitis - Bacteria in the blood tells the body it is being invaded
  • Sleep apnea - Increases the risk of coronary failure by 3 times
  • Arthritis - Risk is the same as if you have diabetes
  • Erectile Dysfunction (ED) - Strongly linked to arteriosclerosis
  • Breast atrial calcium
These new findings show us that any kind of stress affects the heart. Inflammation in the body is an indicator of stress. How we negatively think about ourselves creates stress. In conclusion, take care of your body but do not put demands upon it. Think kind thoughts about yourself and others, and it will take care of your heart.

What is Your Heart Telling You?

When you have turmoil or confusion showing up in your life, there is a way to resolve this. The first thing one often does is look for answers. This takes you into your thoughts, which rarely seem to solve anything. It often brings in too much information and clouds decision-making.

Next time try looking into your heart. It is a place of peace. Within the stillness of your heart are the answers you seek. The easiest way to find a solution is by touching that heartfelt stillness during meditation. Sit quietly and use this process:
  1. Imagine opening your chakras.
  2. Your mind may stray. Do not reprimand it.
  3. Redirect your thoughts when you realize you have wandered.
  4. To help the mind stay focused, pretend to see a color in your heart center.
  5. Remain in the calmness of your mind and you will find new thoughts arising.
  6. These thoughts are positive images that will still the turmoil and clear the confusion.
  7. There are times when you do not require a directive, merely peace.
From my heart to yours,
Marnie

Step into the Extraordinary Moments of Your Life

Look outside the box. How many times do you just stay home doing the same old thing and wonder why you're bored? Next time, open up your horizons and step outside your box. Step outside the door and see what surrounds you that you haven't noticed before. Go on an adventure!

Saturday night, a friend and I were encouraged to join two other friends at a concert that was held in the back room of a small home in Lakewood. What did we find there? Two-time Grammy award winner Richard Stoltzman and his son Peter entertained us for two hours with the most amazing jazz I've heard in a long time. Not more than 80 people sat in this room, and it was like we were invited into the Stoltzman’s living room for a private concert.

There were no microphones or amplification required. What we heard was organic, natural, and clear. To see the love and respect between a son and his 75-year-old father was beautiful to behold. We were not only enveloped in music, we were also caressed with love both from the performers and the audience. Here is a link so you can listen to what we experienced that night. If you are interested in seeing a concert at this unusual venue it is called The Room.

The next time an idea is presented to you that seems out of the ordinary, jump on it. What do you have to lose? Perhaps two hours out of your life or two hours that will enhance your life. I encourage you to step into the unknown and find the beauty that  others want to share with you.

Sending you my love blessings and the songs that lie within my heart.

How Does Positive Thinking Affect Your Health?

People in the metaphysical community have long known that thoughts are very powerful and affect us, not only on our mental and emotional levels, but also on the physical. Positive thoughts can create positive actions and good health in our bodies. Now science is proving this fact with the discovery of telomeres.

Telomeres are found at the end of our chromosomes and they reflect how we age. Professor Dr. Elizabeth Blackburn, along with Dr. Elissa Epel, who received the Nobel Prize for discovering telomeres, explains it like this. "If you think of your chromosomes—which carry genetic material—as shoelaces, telomeres are the little protective tips at the ends. They are made of repeating short sequences of DNA sheathed in special proteins. As we age, these telomeres wear down and no longer protect the chromosomes properly. Cells can't replenish and they malfunction, thus increasing the risk of disease."

In their book The Telomere Effect, credence is given to the positive effect of healthy eating, activity, and most of all, positive thoughts. Sometimes it takes science awhile to catch up with us, the metaphysicians, but the important thing is that they do and ultimately prove what we have known all along.

What Does Remote Healing Feel Like?

Love comes in many forms.
I am blessed to say that I rarely require healing energy to balance my body, but last week I had a small surgery and put out a request to my friends. Seeing I am usually at the giving end of energy work, it was interesting to sense what is felt when a lot of light beings send healing my way.

My hernia surgery was on Thursday, and on Friday, here in Colorado we had record-breaking weather --72 degrees and a calm sunny day. I was sitting in my back yard with a friend who had just gifted me with a cranial sacral treatment. As we soaked up the sun, I suddenly had a euphoric feeling of being lifted out of my chair and wrapped in a cocoon. I knew the session we had was strong, but this felt like nothing I'd experienced before.

As I allowed the sensations to envelop me I knew that what I felt was the love, compassion, and healing light directed my way from my friends. It lasted quite awhile. I was being nurtured.

So when you need healing light sent your way, do not hesitate to call out to your circle of friends and family, and include me in the list. I can tell you that what you get back is real!

Be your own valentine today and treat yourself with kindness.

Lovingly in the light,
Marnie

What To Do With Nagging Thoughts

Have you ever sat down to meditate and find that all you get are thoughts running around in your head with no way to stop them? Here is a solution.

When thoughts continue to inhabit your brain, when all you want to do is be at peace for a moment, use this simple technique. See your thoughts as books that need to be put back onto the shelf. Take a short time to visit what they are saying and then remove them. Some can be in the forefront where they can be easily accessed at a later more appropriate time but, for now they are put aside. Some thoughts need to be in the back of the shelf where they can be accessed, but not too often.

Meditation gives your mind a time to clear and organize your thoughts. Remember, when you take the time to meditate, you do not need to dictate what will occur. Your psyche knows what is best for you to calm your busy mind.  The practice of meditation is to allow your brain to clear and know that it has no agenda in the process.

Be still my friends, and know you are loved.

Making a Difference

In the past, at the healing shares I conduct monthly, I have gathered donations to support the education of children in Vietnam. At this time I feel our donations would be better spent here in America to assist women in need.

I am looking for suggestions for an origination in Denver that we could support. It would not only be monetary but a place where we could volunteer as a group.  Please send me your suggestions and in the mean time, join me at the next healing share on Wednesday, February 8th at 6:45. Click here for details.

Marnie

Rise Up and Be Heard!

This past weekend, people in America—and throughout the world—spoke out in unprecedented numbers. What was important is that people did not hide their views and told their government what is important to them. We are a country founded on freedom and free speech. It does not matter if you support the views of the marchers. The importance is that in this country we can speak our truth and be heard.

There is strength in our country from the millions of people who spoke out this weekend. Allow their power to support you in expressing your truth to a person in your life. Tell them what you have been withholding that is in your heart. It does you no good to be silent. Nor does it serve them. If you do not tell them what is vital for your emotional and mental well-being, you will only be injuring yourself.

Our country was born on freedom of speech. Speak yours!

Rise up and be heard,
Marnie

Heal Yourself, Heal Others, Improve Your Life

There are messages all around you, and you can receive higher guidance if you only open your eyes and observe. I am lucky that most of the time my body does not need to give me pain to let me know I need to adjust my thinking. Although lately that has not been the case. The physical aliments that have been popping up are reflecting anger I could be holding in my bodies; physical, mental, and emotional. I have been sitting with this information but have not been able to decipher what to do to release the discomfort.

Today it came to me; the simple process of 'Ho'oponopono' is just what I need. Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, a therapist in Hawaii was called upon to help in a ward of the dangerously criminally insane. Other doctors were afraid to work in this unstable environment and would leave before they could help the inmates. Dr. Len decided to use an unconventional process to see what would occur. He did not see any of the patients. He merely opened their files and spoke these words:
  1. I'm sorry.
  2. I love you.
Dr. Len said, "If you want to improve your life, you have to heal your life. If you want to cure anyone, even a mentally ill criminal you do it by healing you...Suffice it to say that whenever you want to improve anything in your life, there's only one place to look:  inside you. When you look, do it with love. If you have a challenge [with a person, situation, etc.], it's not with that person [etc.] It's that memory that's coming up that you are reacting to.  That's what you have a challenge with.  It is not with the other person."

It's the attraction factor—like attracts like—Dr. Len’s God-self was so strong that it attracted the God-self in others. Try it my friends and see how it works for you. It is simple, it is short, it won’t hurt anyone, and it just might help.

Blessings,
Marnie
